On 4 February 2024, ACT Ministers Barr and Gentleman announced that the mid‑year budget review includes (see page 46) $500,000 for work on designs for MyHome in Canberra.
Wesley Mission has proposed to build and operate MyHome on the land in Curtin offered for this purpose by the Woden Valley Uniting Church, together with adjacent units of affordable rental housing. Discussions between Wesley Mission and the ACT Government about financial support to enable Wesley Mission to build that affordable rental housing have not yet concluded.
The members of the MyHome committee welcome this ACT Government decision, and look forward to more community consultations and other preparatory steps accompanying design work.
