On 8 July 2025 Ms Yvette Berry, the Deputy Chief Minister of the ACT, told the media about a construction grant for MyHome, as part of ACT Government support for the Wesley Curtin project.
Ms Berry’s media release included this comment: “The homes for people with enduring mental illnesses is an important addition to the range of supported housing in the ACT, which is a priority for this Government.”
On the same day, Andrew Tyndale, Chief Investment and Assets Officer of Wesley Mission, said “Wesley Curtin is a great example of what can be achieved when government and community come together… Projects like this build stronger, more inclusive neighbourhoods.”
This confirmation of the necessary finance represents a happy moment for hundreds of Canberrans who have donated to MyHome in Canberra for more than ten years, showing their support for people with enduring mental illnesses.
While the finance to be provided by the federal and ACT governments for the Wesley Curtin development, including MyHome, is vital, it leaves a substantial need still for philanthropic and community contributions, which we will continue to help organise.
On 14 July 2025 Region Canberra had a report by Nicholas Ward on the media announcement.
