There is very little appropriate and effective supported accommodation for people in Canberra with mental illness. The urgent need to provide suitable supported accommodation for people with severe and enduring mental health issues is a major priority for the mental health sector and mental health carers.
MyHome in Canberra is a community initiative which aims to build and provide safe, secure, and affordable supported accommodation and quality care for people with serious, enduring long term mental illness who are unable to care for themselves without appropriate support services.
The MyHome in Canberra Board of Directors are calling on members of the ACT community, the mental health sector and mental health carers to join us in this exciting project. MyHome in Canberra will make a significant and lasting difference to the lives of people living with an enduring mental illness that are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, or who live in unsuitable accommodation.
